You will most certainly be kept up to date with our tandem trials and tribulations! Surprisingly, the tandem will only be 65cm longer in wheelbase length than my current bike… so we aren’t currently too worried about tight traffic streets yet.

Hi David

We have considered many options as you can imagine, and will go into depth as to why we went Co-Motion in another post. But briefly, they are a builder we can trust because they specialise in tandems. They do S&S couplers (frame splitters), belt drive and Rohloff specific frames – all of which we use currently and very much believe in. They are innovative. Then there is the option for custom geometry, which allows me to get the sizing and frame specific requirements that we like. With regards to tandems, disc brakes and wheel size, I still need to get the low down from Co-Motion (and will write about soon) The “custom geometry” allows us to select V-brakes and 26″ wheels if this ends up being our preferred option. You’ll probably have read that I prefer V-brakes and 700c for multiple reasons, but we are not discounting other options for the tandem!

Thanks for your comments… we love keeping the conversation going!

They’re probably around the same price, and the frames are designed around the Rohloff hub so in theory it’d be easier to fit your existing kit onto it? Also, I don’t know what your planned bike specs are but it looks like the tandem in the photo and on their website are mostly disc-braked… From what I understand, this is not good on a touring bike due to the torsion on the forks, but probably much worse on a tandem!

Anyway, clearly you know your bikes, but I thought I’d ask the question as I’m interested to know why you’re going with Co-Motion.
