Good idea! I’ll have to try it. 🙂

with miso and powder dashi, wakame, sesame oil, avocado, carrot, ginger, spring onion, sesame seeds, boiled egg…
Or make your porridge into some sort of rissoto, by adding mushrooms, butter, parmesan, creme fraiche, trufle oil…
One of the wonderful things about cycling and touring, as you well know, is that you don’t have to worry if your food has too many calories! on the other hand, this will be an advantage!

I’ll have to give the flaked quinoa a try – sounds like a winner.

I struggle with both fructose and oats. So for me… Flaked quinoa! Very easy to digest, and wonderful for me to ride on. Nuts, dried mango, cinnamon, salt. It cooks itself in 60 seconds boiling water so you save on gas … You can use the water left from boiling eggs to make the quinoa, and have with coffee (i carry Robert timms sealed coffee bags).
Yes you can add milk or protein powder, or grated apple and other roadside finds.

I have started adding a chopped banana to the mix, chopped Medjool dates, sultanas and raisins before cooking. The banana breaks down and gives a lovely bananaie taste to the porridge. Then once it is done add a couple of dessert spoons of 100% pure maple syrup. Mmmmmmmmm!

UHT milk previously, currently we’re using powdered soy milk.
