This is my complete gear list for the next 3-4 years as I cycle from Argentina to Alaska.
- I intend to camp most nights, so I’ve packed to be self-sufficient for days on end.
- I’m travelling for a long time and lightweight stuff wears out quickly, so I’m using heavier but more durable equipment.
- The temperature range is as wide as -20 to 40 degrees Celsius (-4 to 104f).
- I switch out my winter gear for summer gear when it suits (winter adds around 3kg).
- I’m carrying a lot of computer/camera gear for your viewing and reading pleasure (23% of my gear weight)!
- The things that have been
crossed outI only sometimes carry.

Nice one Yoshi! Enjoy!
Airspresso Coffee Maker… the company doesn’t ship outside of Australia or New Zealand.
Unfortunately! Cool bit of kit.
I’m going to have to ask a friend in Australia to export one for me.
Great Alee!!! I´m starting the same trip but from Toronto to Ushuaia next April, so this information is gold for me, i was like crazy thinking about what should I take with me, it makes me a better idea 🙂 Hope to cross you somewhere!
Nice you see you’ve applied your meticulous approach on all your articles also into your packing list. Very informative to see what percentage of overall total each of the categories is!
I’ve never weighted my stuff when I’m on tour, but considering I carry way more crap than you, and you are already on 26kg, I’m scared to think what I’m lugging around!!
Enjoy the trip!
As long as you use everything I don’t think it matters too much!
What was your sleeping bag rated?
-4 comfort. I’ll probably need to get some extra gear when it gets really cold… but I figured this was the best option for the majority of my trip.
What model iPhone do you currently use…and, since I’ve been case-shopping-and-choosing for my wife’s and my very first iPhones (don’t ding me; I’ve been a Mac user since ’87 😉 ), what brand and model case did you select for your line of “work”? 😉
Hi Bart. I use an older iPhone 5S (2013). I don’t think it’ll last my whole trip, but I’ll keep using it until it gives up the ghost. It’s a Quadlock case, they’re model-specific to the 5, 6, 7, X etc. Here’s my review: https://www.cyclingabout.com/review-quad-lock-smartphone-mounting-system/
what are the hangers for?
Hello Alee, would you mind adding a picture of the bike loaded with all this? thanks
For hanging clothes in my tent, hanging shoes after washing …
Carrying 5-7 days worth of food too: https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/ea7eaad7839716a090b5e71096ee094c9d023963dfe5f7eb3b3df6777aebf2ec.jpg
