At last, Euphoria Season 3 has gone into production. The HBO high school series' third season has been long delayed by 2023's Hollywood strikes, scheduling conflicts among the cast, and what sounds like a lot of behind-the-scenes drama. While we won't see new episodes until 2026, HBO is clearly hoping a single photo of Zendaya in character as Rue will be enough to sustain fans for the foreseeable future. You can be the judge of that.

In the meantime, we'll be here debating whether this f---ing play is about us and updating this post with as much information about Euphoria Season 3 as we can.

Euphoria Season 3 latest news

In February 2025, HBO confirmed that production on Euphoria Season 3 has finally begun with the release of a first look photo of Zendaya's Rue. HBO shared the image on social media, followed by a short message: "Euphoria season 3 is in production." Well, that settles that!

Euphoria Season 3 cast

In November 2024, Storm Reid announced that she will not be part of Euphoria Season 3. "Unfortunately, Gia's not returning to the third season, but I am so, so indebted to the cast and the crew of that show, to HBO," Reid told Rotten Tomatoes at the Governors Awards. "Euphoria's a really special thing and I'm so glad that that's a part of my legacy and that I was a part of such a cultural phenomenon."

Previously, HBO confirmed to Variety that the rest of the principal cast — excluding Barbie Ferreira, who announced her exit from the series in 2022 — will return for Season 3. Zendaya, Sydney SweeneyHunter SchaferAlexa DemieJacob ElordiMaude ApatowColman Domingo, and Eric Dane are all set to reprise their roles.

Reports of behind-the-scenes drama plagued Euphoria during Season 2, much of it centering on a rumored feud between creator Sam Levinson and star Barbie Ferreira. In August 2022, Ferreira announced via Instagram that she won't be reprising her role as Kat in the show's third season, writing, "After four years of getting to embody the most special and enigmatic character Kat, I'm having to say a very teary-eyed goodbye. I hope many of you could see yourself in her like I did and that she brought you joy to see her journey into the character she is today. I put all my care and love into her and I hope you guys could feel it. Love you Katherine Hernandez."

In April, Ferreira addressed her exit from the series on the "Armchair Expert" podcast. She called the move a "mutual decision," saying, "I don't think there was a place for [Kat] to go." Ferreira added, "I don't know if it was going to do her justice, and I think both parties knew that. I really wanted to be able to not be the fat best friend. I don't want to play that, and I think they didn't want that either." She also denied rumors that she had walked off set during the second season.

Series regular Angus Cloud, who played Fez on the first two seasons, passed away on July 31, 2023.

Euphoria Season 3 release date prediction

In December 2024, HBO confirmed that Euphoria is eyeing a 2026 premiere, which means that when it finally returns it will be almost four years after the end of Season 2. This news came months after the announcement that Season 3 would begin production in January 2025, per Variety.

"I am thrilled that we are ready to begin production on Euphoria in January," said Francesca Orsi, executive vice president of HBO programming and head of HBO drama series and films. "We could not be happier with our creative partnership with Sam [Levinson] and this incredible cast. We look forward to bringing this new season of Euphoria to life for the fans."

Euphoria Season 3 storyline

Details on Season 3 are scarce, but in August 2023, creator Sam Levinson told Elle that he's conceiving of the third season as a "film noir." Levinson added that the season will use Rue to "explore what it means to be an individual with principles in a corrupt world."
