Hase made this reenforcment part for the frames previous to 2015. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/e5c0f25bcf0e64d88d49deaec7be961c52979b8c2979243361472c4fb55e02e8.jpg
From 2015, the frames were made stonger.

We bought our Pino 2 years ago and we love it. Last year, we upgraded with Electric assist and solar pannels.

We took part of http://www.theSuntrip.com in France last summer. Unfortunately, we we slipped on wet pavement and my stoker broke her hip. https://youtu.be/ug_MDb7U9xg

We will return next summer to cross the Alpes starting from Nantes anf flying back home to Quebec from Marseille. We have installed a fasten seat belt for the stoker!

This is our Blog (French version) with the whole story and build up of our Solar EPino!

Thanks for the heads up on the Blue Sky Cycle Carts. 🙂

With my wife’s back issues, she might like the advantages you give to the Pino. It should be one we consider.

As for two-wheeled trailers strongly recommended for the Pino, I am completely sold on Blue Sky Cycle Carts. They are strong, lightweight, attach to the seat post under your center of mass with a simple hitch, track your bike exceedingly well, are much less squirrelly to tow than rear stay mounted trailers, and without the threat of damaging the thinner tube rear stays. The fact that they are easily completely disassembled means you can stow them in the back of your car for transport to a distant start point. I have been using their Special Needs Cart to haul my 85 lb daughter around for the past 15-20 years and still have room in the trailer for additional cargo. I have carried loads in excess of their 200 lb rating without issue. You can use this trailer even when you have a rear rack and panniers so long as you don’t expect to put something on top of your rear rack.

I guess it depends which generation frame it is. Quite a few of the more recent Pinos have had no problems with cracking.

We have two pair of these for sale. Do you know where we may advertise them? Regards, Emmanuel Scerri in Switzerland

there is another (occasional) manufacturer of this type of bikes- Tandemservis. Look at the beutiful pictures here: http://www.tandemservis.cz/realizace-tandemservis-semi/. In my opinion, they have put together all the best from the Pino (foldability, front suspension which is a must on 20″ LWB recumbents for bad roads), Morpheus and Bilenky (sturdy triangle frame). Moreover, Tandemservis collaborates with Azub so one can be sure of the recumbent know-how as well as sturdiness. I´m unsure whether there´s any Semi outside the Czech republic currently but it should be listed here- for many couples it might be the best.

Hi Pierre

Your Rohloff / Andra 30 wheel will slot right in, and will be strong enough for the demands of Pino touring provided it’s been built well.
